Funny Car Commercial of the Day: Ready for winter?

Ready for Winter? Click above to watch the video after the break
As someone who happened to have grown up in snowy climes of the Great Lakes States for the first 25 years of life, this author knows exactly how nasty it can be in the morning to walk out of your nice, toasty house on a cold and blustery winter day. It's even worse when you need to drive somewhere and your car is covered in a hard-as-rock coating of ice and snow.
Having since moved to the sunny state of Arizona, however, dealing with the scenario particular situation isn't on this blogger's agenda any time soon.
That said, it is in the forecast for many Autoblog readers, and so we've decided to dig up this oldie-but-a-goody Statoil commercial to get you in the mood. Click past the break to watch the video and check out veryfunnyads.com for more gut-busting ads from around the world.

I think you mean Rabbit. Or wait--it's Friday. Golf. Or is it Rabbit?
...damn marketing departments.

I guess you could use the free coffee they give you to melt the ice off your windshield.

Yeah, except it's illegal in Norway to drive with ice/snow on your windshield... (the ad is from Norway).

That'll crack your windsheild, Cheif.

"That'll crack your windsheild, Cheif."
Never heard of that problem with heated windshield washer fluid.
Sopherion 1:08AM (11/07/2009)
That would be because your car's heated washer fluid is boiling hot.
Have you never taken a glass out of the dishwasher immediately after it was run then put ice water in it? (Or at least heard of what happens)?

I had to do something similar about a month ago. I had left my car at the airport for a work trip. I took a detour on the way home and came back a few days later than I had planned. In the meantime, a storm had come left us a hefty layer of ice which literally covered my car. Not expecting that, I hadn't yet put my ice scraper into my car.
I was forced to use the hotel key from my recent stay to chip the ice off my car so I could drive home.
I'm just glad we usually get snowstorms and not icestorms here though. I don't envy anyone that has to deal with ice like that. I'll take a heavy snowstorm any day over that.

If I live in a place that gets snow/ice storm, I'd invest some money into remote starter...

Doesn't it suck when your trunk is frozen shut?
Accazda3 hatch 2:03AM (11/08/2009)
Sorry.. that doesn't happen.
Ya pop the trunk either remotely or or from inside the vehicle.. give it a tug.. and its free.
Accazda3 hatch 11:20PM (11/06/2009)
And speaking for someone who has done it.. ENOUGH times...
Ya don't worry about the stupid windows or, until the car is warmed up.
Unlock / pop the lock.. get car started first.
Pop trunk to get out tools.
While its running.. scrape off the front glass, with defroster working the inside front and rear glass.
The back set of windows ya don;t need.
And it would sometimes be nice to have heated side mirrors.
I just think the guy is woefully unprepared.
And...
I look forward to the worst winter has to offer.
AND.. without an AWD sedan or SUV!

That's pretty much it. ALWAYS start your car and turn on the defrosters (front and rear) BEFORE you start scraping.

$150 for a remote starter. Best $150 I ever spent.
